Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day 

Sturgeon County invites everyone to join the National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations happening Friday, June 21, 2024, at Camilla School in Riviere Qui Barre. 

The event is open to all and free to attend. It will feature traditional dancing, drumming, and singing by performers from Alexander First Nation and Métis Nation, as well as teepee teachings, Métis jiggers, a round dance, food and more.

4:30 p.m.  Teepee teachings 
5:30 p.m.  Traditional Indigenous games 
6:15 p.m.  Formal program 
6:30 p.m.  Performances with traditional drumming, dancing, singing and Métis jiggers  
7:30 p.m.  Round Dance 
8:00 p.m.  Wrap up 
Complimentary event parking is available at Camilla School and at the Rivière Qui Barre Arena.

A fire advisory is in effect for Sturgeon County due to high temperatures and lack of precipitation.

Sturgeon County offices will be close Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21 for the Easter weekend. Offices will re-open for regular business hours on Tuesday, April 22 from 8:30AM - 4:30PM.
