Beyond the Meridian: A Family Dream Turned Venue Success

Nestled in Sturgeon County, Beyond the Meridian is a wedding and event venue founded by Katrina and Kjell Reid. Inspired by a wedding at a converted farm venue, they envisioned creating a space that blends rustic charm with modern elegance. Passionate about hosting and celebrating life’s special moments, their venue started with transforming a family barn into a gathering place.

What Sets Beyond the Meridian Apart

Located just a short drive from St. Albert, Edmonton, and Spruce Grove, Beyond the Meridian offers the best of both worlds—easy access without the hassle of rural roads, and the charm of a countryside venue. The venue’s unique value lies in its comprehensive service, from a preferred vendors list to day-of coordination, ensuring couples can enjoy a stress-free experience as they celebrate their special day. They also offer a seated capacity of 120, bridal party dressing room, indoor washrooms, full kitchen and bar, option for an indoor or outdoor event and more!

Milestones, Growth & Supporting Local

Beyond the Meridian’s journey has been marked by significant milestones. The family’s first booking was a key moment, followed by hosting the Mayor’s Address in 2024, which introduced the venue to the broader community. A particularly proud achievement was managing back-to-back weddings on consecutive days in their first year, which allowed the team to refine their operations. By the end of their first year, Beyond the Meridian had a fully booked December, hosting weddings, family gatherings, and staff parties.

The venue has quickly grown, expanding beyond weddings to include other events. Katrina, Kjell and their team have worked closely with local vendors to ensure they offer clients the best experience while supporting the local economy. Katrina is also quick to praise the support they’ve received from Sturgeon County. “The guidance we’ve received has been invaluable,” she says. “Their investment in our success has helped us turn our dream into reality, and we’re proud to be part of such a supportive community.”

Going the Extra Mile

At Beyond the Meridian, exceeding customer expectations is the norm. From sourcing special wines to making a winter wedding come together on short notice, the team is committed to making every event memorable and ensuring clients’ visions come to life seamlessly.

Looking ahead, Beyond the Meridian is focused on refining its processes to continue delivering an effortless experience for clients. While future developments are in the works, their priority remains supporting guests throughout their planning journey.
