The promise of fertile land inspired Frederick Bokenfohr’s parents to uproot their family from Nebraska, shortly after arriving there, and make the long journey to Alberta.

In 1902, Frederick Bokenfohr and his family initially settled in Nebraska after moving from Germany. Encouraged by a relative’s stories about the land, they ventured north to Alberta where they eventually found the farm near Morinville that would remain in their family for a century.

Sturgeon County offices will be close Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21 for the Easter weekend. Offices will re-open for regular business hours on Tuesday, April 22 from 8:30AM - 4:30PM.
