Waste Into Worth Award Recipients

Wednesday, November 21, 2018 – Our region will get a bit greener and cleaner as ten new local projects receive funding to help reduce waste in our communities. Recipients submitted ideas to the Waste into Worth Challenge hosted by North West Redwater Partnership (NWR). Ten winners were chosen based on creativity, impact to the community, and ability to turn waste into something of value.

City of St. Albert and Sturgeon County hold meeting of Annexation Negotiating Committee

The City of St. Albert and Sturgeon County’s Annexation Negotiating Committee held a regularly scheduled meeting on September 19, 2018 to discuss St. Albert’s potential annexation of a portion of Sturgeon County. The Municipal Government Board attended the meeting and made a presentation regarding the annexation process. The Committee also reviewed several recent annexations, which provided valuable background information to assist them in their work.
 


Council Approves First Reading of Traffic Bylaw 1419/18

During the regular September 11 Council meeting, Council approved first reading of the proposed Traffic Bylaw 1419/18. The current bylaw in place relating to “Regulating traffic within the boundaries of Sturgeon County” was last reviewed and approved in 2013. As part of regular department activities, reviews of bylaws are undertaken to ensure Sturgeon County’s current bylaw(s) are consistent with recently established Provincial legislation, policies, and procedures.

Once comments are collected and considered, additional amendments may be brought forth to Council for consideration and second and third readings will be scheduled.
